  William E. York
Managing Partner

For the past two decades Bill York has been a buyer, seller, owner, intermediary, director and manager of small and mid-size companies.  His uniquely well-rounded background includes corporate finance, manufacturing, retail, wholesale, business services, banking, natural resources, restaurants, real estate, and publishing.

Mr. York's private equity career commenced in 1989 as the founder of Wm. York LLC, a private equity investment company formed to acquire and operate mid-sized companies.  Over the proceeding five years the firm acquired four companies; Bio-Dyne Corporation, a national manufacturer of fitness equipment; Dynamic Industrial Finishing, a metal finishing service; Home Fitness Studios, a fitness specialty retail store chain in Florida; and Carolina Fitness Equipment, a fitness specialty retail store chain in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  Collectively, the firm had 250 employees, a factory, two regional warehouses and twenty-two retail stores.  In 1991, Mr. York initiated and completed the initial public stock offering of Bio-Dyne Corporation (NASDAQ – BODY), and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.  In 1995, Mr. York sold his interest in Bio-Dyne and re-established Wm. York LLC, now known as Midwest Private Equity, as a mid-market private business investment and advisory firm.

Prior to private equity investing, Mr. York worked in purchasing/procurement for Owns-Corning Fiberglas and was a stockbroker at First Jersey Securities, and institutional stockbroker and officer of the firm at Drexel, Burnham, Lambert.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Miami University (Ohio) in 1982 and is a resident of Granville, Ohio.
