For
the past two decades Bill York has been a buyer, seller,
owner, intermediary, director and manager of small and
mid-size companies. His uniquely well-rounded
background includes corporate finance,
manufacturing, retail, wholesale, business services, banking,
natural resources, restaurants, real estate, and publishing.
Mr. York's private equity career commenced in 1989 as the
founder of Wm. York LLC, a private equity investment company
formed to acquire and operate mid-sized companies.
Over the proceeding five years the firm acquired four
companies; Bio-Dyne Corporation, a national manufacturer of
fitness equipment; Dynamic Industrial Finishing, a metal
finishing service; Home Fitness Studios, a fitness specialty
retail store chain in Florida; and Carolina Fitness
Equipment, a fitness specialty retail store chain in North
Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Collectively,
the firm had 250 employees, a factory, two regional
warehouses and twenty-two retail stores. In 1991, Mr.
York initiated and completed the initial public stock
offering of Bio-Dyne Corporation (NASDAQ – BODY), and served
as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. In 1995, Mr.
York sold his interest in Bio-Dyne and re-established Wm.
York LLC, now known as Midwest Private Equity, as a
mid-market private business investment and advisory firm.
Prior to private equity investing, Mr. York worked in
purchasing/procurement for Owns-Corning Fiberglas and was a
stockbroker at First Jersey Securities, and institutional
stockbroker and officer of the firm at
Drexel, Burnham, Lambert. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Management from Miami University (Ohio) in 1982 and is a
resident of Granville, Ohio. |
